What’s in my playlist– George Winston
I was probably 12 years old the Christmas my uncle gave me a cassette tape (yes, that’s right) of George Winston’s piano music. I can’t recall anymore which album it was, and it was probably another couple of years before I listened to it– but I’ve been a huge fan of his ever since. In college I would listen to his music while doing homework or studying because it relaxed me and helped me to focus.
My favorite albums of his to recommend to clients and friends are any of the seasons (Autumn, Winter into Spring, Summer) and Plains. These albums contain his own compositions. He also created tribute albums to jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi (the composer who wrote the music for Peanuts) and the Doors as well as a couple of benefit albums for 9/11 and hurricane Katrina.
If you’re looking for relaxing, thought-provoking solo piano music– you can’t go wrong with George Winston.
