On the Bookshelf– Dignifying Dementia
This is a thought-provoking book about the journey of dementia for the individual diagnosed and their caregiver. Written by Elizabeth Tierney, she chronicles the last few years of her husband’s life with dementia. She makes the difficult decision to remain his primary caregiver (although with help in the last few years) and keep him in their home for the duration of his illness. At times humorous, heartbreaking, and infuriating– this is a must-read for anyone who has experienced caregiving or for professionals who work with their families.
